Why join?

  • The goal of the competition is to highlight the ability of architects to implement local and sustainable materials in outstanding architectural projects.

We support progress, not perfection. Projects with both traditional and sustainable materials are welcome.

    By joining, you’ll gain:

    • Life-long visibility in Europe’s sustainable architecture scene.

    • Connect with top sustainable architects and material pioneers.

    • Your work featured on MARCH, the digital hub for architecture & sustainable construction materials.

Selected projects will become part of MARCH, a visual sourcing engine where architects, designers, and clients come to get inspired and source materials through built projects.

By submitting your project, you are not only creating exposure for your company. You are becoming part of a movement making sustainable construction easy and accessible

  • Each project must include at least five materials from one or more of the following categories:

    • Bio-based: bamboo, cork, hemp, straw, timber, clay, etc.

    • Biodegradable: mycelium, jute, bioplastics, bio-resins, etc.

    • Circular: recycled steel, reclaimed bricks, reused components

    • Local: regionally sourced stone, timber, earth, locally made products

Participants must list and categorise their materials in the submission form, with a short description of their role in the project.

  • The competition is open to architects, architecture studios, and interior architecture firms based in Europe and the UK.

To qualify, participants must submit a completed project that has already been built in Europe or the UK. Projects can be of any type or scale.

    Each submission must include:

    • A brief description of the project.

    • A list of at least five materials, categorized under: bio-based, biodegradable, circular, or local.

All material selections must align with the categories outlined in the competition guidelines.

  • Participating is easy and takes just a few steps:

    1. Register using this FORM.

    2. Describe your project, including at least five sustainable materials, categorized as bio-based, biodegradable, circular, or local.

    Important notes:

    • Only submissions including at least five categorized materials are considered valid.

    • The competition has a one-time participation fee.

    • You can submit multiple projects under the same registration at no additional cost.

  • Submissions will be evaluated based on two key aspects: design quality and material use.

For the materials, the jury will assess:

    • Sustainability impact, as specified in the submission form

    • Quantity and relevance of sustainable materials used (volume, surface area, or number of components)

    • Material categories selected: bio-based, biodegradable, circular, or local

Participants must include a minimum of five materials, but there is no maximum. Projects that combine traditional and sustainable materials are also welcome.

All entries will be reviewed by an independent jury of architects and material experts. The judging panel values innovation and intention — we support progress, not perfection.

Submit your project and be part of the shift.
